This final project compiled all of the pieces we have been assigned into one tangible piece. I though Adobe In Design was difficult to work with because it made the act of inserting photos and text more difficult than needed. Also preparing the pieces for print was a pain because there is no guaranteed way to check that everything will come out clear and legible.
This project was more difficult than I expected. Earlier, I had really enjoyed Illustrator and felt that i had really gotten the hang of it. Coming in to Photoshop, I incorrectly assumed that it would be similar in functionality and therefore be easy for me. However, I quickly learned that the two programs are very different. I had a lot of trouble trying to use it because i kept trying to use it as i used Illustrator. Original Photos:I ended up deciding to create a travel magazine featuring several places I have been this summer. I titled the magazine "Wanderlust" and identified it as a special edition. The photos i used are ones from my Instagram/phone that i felt captured the essence of my traveling persona.
I found this project absolutely exasperating. I am a very visual learner as well as visually creative. It was very stressful and confusing to have to take a mathematical and entirely unartistic approach to completing this project. My finished design which is of a combination moon and sun, is very simplistic by my standards; however, took me many hours because of the complexity and redundancy of the coding. I can say I really hope I never have to do extensive coding ever again. Coding:

The first picture is my initial photo that pulled from my personal Instagram. The photo depicts a blond figure holding an American flag against a mountain landscape. Taken in my hometown, Monument, Colorado, one can see in the distance, that Pikes Peak cluster creates the skyline. I chose this photo because attention is immediately drawn to the figure. I would use this to my advantage by recreating the figure in my vector illustration with more detail versus the backdrop. The simplified landscape would then serve to enhance the figure. Finally, an artistic choice on my part, i chose to insert a sunset into the skyline. I chose to do this because it provided not only an interest factor to a somewhat bland landscape, but also a light source for many of the highlights and shadows found throughout the piece.
The "Exquisite Corpse" project was entertaining. but much more difficult than expected. The concept to make the figure aesthetically appealing as well as follow the original as much as possible was very difficult. Some aspects of the creature I had to eliminate as well as some I enhanced upon. Overall, this was a much goofier, interesting take on Adobe Illustrator.
For my final logo I decided on my mountain design. Although this is not the design actually chosen by the company, it is definitely one of my favorites! I love how it really represents the Colorado image and lifestyle. Using Adobe Illustrator was definitely a challenge for me throughout this process because i have always worked with Fine Arts instead of Digital. However, i definitely feel more adept and believe i have definitely gained useful skills for the future! I even used these skills to improve upon my previous designs and contact the owner of the company.
These five logo sketches are my initial ideas for the real company "Elevation Tackle". A startup company with Bass Pro Shops, Elevation Tackle is owned and operated by a coworker of mine. Over the summer he asked that I aid in giving his company an image. After listening to his vision for the company I designed around eleven thumbnail logos that encompassed his Colorado-fishing theme. These are a few of the designs that I really enjoy. I think they definitely are good representations of his vision with their "mountainesque" aspects and uniquely Colorado flair.
My caligramme is based off of a 70's, hippie theme. It features a tie dye background with monochromatic wording in the shape of "peace fingers". The words that make up the sign are all centered around this 70's lifestyle theme. They also are portrayed in different fonts and sizes to give depth and an interest factor.
